# Add items to the Privacy - Legal basis list
> Learn how to change the privacy lists in this how-to guide.
The **Privacy - Legal basis** list contains options that users select to document the legal basis for processing a contact's personal data.
## Steps
1. Select **Lists** in the Navigator.
2. Select **Privacy - Legal basis** from the dropdown menu. The **Items** tab shows all existing sources.
3. Click **Add** to open the **Edit list item** dialog.
4. Enter the name of the item in the **Name** field.
5. Enter a unique identifier for the legal basis in the **Key** field. This value will remain unique independent of database and is used by developers.
6. Type in a description of the item in the **Description** field.
7. Click **Save** to save the changes or **Cancel** to reject them.
